What They Are Looking For

1. Innovative Solutions: Projects should develop Extended Reality (XR) based therapeutic solutions for mental health.

2. Scalability: The solution must have the potential to be trialled and adopted at scale within the UK’s mental health ecosystem.

3. Target Audience: Must focus on positive mental health outcomes for young adults (13+) or older adults.

4. Industrial Research: Projects should complete an industrial research cycle within 6 to 20 months.

Funding and Project Size

• Duration and Costs: The total eligible project costs must fall between £100,000 and £300,000. Projects should complete an industrial research cycle within 6 to 20 months.

Key Criteria

• Scope: Must specifically explore how digital therapeutic content through XR can provide positive mental health outcomes.
• Trial Requirements: Must be suitable for trials following industrial research studies.
• Strand Alignment: Must apply to the correct strand as transferring the application is not possible.

Research Categories

• Types of Research: Only industrial research projects will be funded in this strand.

Exclusions

• Projects in early-stage research and those unsuitable for potential trials following industrial research studies of up to 20 months are not eligible.
• Projects dependent on export performance or domestic inputs usage will not be funded.
