Role Purpose

We are currently looking for a talented individual to join our bid writing team. As a Graduate Technical / Scientific Innovation Consultant you will support our clients to secure R&D funding to facilitate the development of ground-breaking new products and processes.

 

Our clients are innovators and are at the cutting edge of their fields.  No two assignments are the same.  We work across all sectors, for example advanced materials, biotechnology, digital, healthcare and low carbon.  The common thread is our passion for research and desire to support the UK’s leading innovators to secure R&D grants.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with our team and clients to understand their product development and business aspirations and translating these into fundable concepts.
  • Gathering, understanding and presenting complex scientific, technical and market information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential and clients with a view to securing new / repeat business.

 

Skills / Experience

  • A strong STEM degree, preferably with a MSc in your chosen scientific / technical discipline 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and adapt to changes
  • Detail orientated
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, knowing when to flag issues and when to deal independently
  • Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal. and presentation
  • Passion for exploring new technologies and a determination to go the extra mile to ensure grant funding success

We are currently recruiting a high calibre and dynamic account manager to continue the company’s year on year growth. This is a new role and a great opportunity to play a key part in the next exciting stage of our journey. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a consultative sales ethos, in addition to delivering a range of account management and sales activities.

This role is responsible for continuing the expansion of the Business Development Team,  increasing customer awareness of Inventya’s full services suite. In addition, with our customer journey at the heartbeat of the business delivery, it is essential that the successful candidate puts the client at the forefront of all aspects of the role, through tasks and initiatives. Being comfortable and confident in managing the sales cycle from prospect to closing and follow up. You will have the ability to positively influence at an executive level and carry confidence, desire and honest values though all behaviours. 

 

Key Requirements

  • Implementing the company’s business development strategy to meet our ambitious growth targets
  • Growing a portfolio of clients across the North West and UK by understanding the client’s innovation and growth requirements
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of leads and opportunities for our Business Development Managers in order to achieve and exceed agreed targets
  • Being the first point of contact for the client during their journey with the business, ensuring strong, growing relationships whilst realising their requirements
  • Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships with new and existing clients
  • Negotiating solutions with organisations of all sizes
  • Hosting and attending conferences, meetings and industry events across the UK to promote funded and commercial offerings.
  • Building relationships with potential business partners, such as other business support organisations, to generate key client referrals
  • Deliver timely, high quality service contracts for clients where applicable 
  • Design and delivery of sales and technical workshops

 

Skills / Experience

  • Clear understanding of account management principles

This role is eligible for participation in the Company’s discretionary bonus scheme which will be based on specific annual objectives. Details will be provided separately, and individual objectives will be agreed with your line manager.

The position is partly funded by the European Commission and Innovate UK.

Senior Innovation Advisor

Part-funded by Innovate UK and the European Commission, EEN and the innovation programmes are key instruments in the UK and EU’s strategy to boost growth and jobs.

Accessing opportunities, obtaining sound advice and proactively building partnerships and networks is vital for most businesses to be successful. A highly motivated and dynamic senior innovation advisor is sought to deliver high growth support to North West based small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Working with each company, the advisor will analyse existing innovation management capabilities and barriers, then deliver an action plan of support that significantly improves the client’s innovation systems and practices, leading to increased business success. Business success is measured in terms of bringing new products to market, creation of new jobs, introducing new products/technologies into the company for increased productivity, increased turnover etc.

The successful candidate is likely to have a degree (or equivalent), have good working knowledge of innovation and experience in the commercial sector at a senior level and/or in the provision of business support.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Generating leads and identifying innovative businesses with significant growth potential
  • Using holistic analysis tools to review and diagnose client needs and provide tailored support to address those needs
  • Acting as a coach/mentor to support each company in the development of long-term innovation management and commercialisation strategies
  • Account managing a portfolio of clients and delivering a programme of support
  • Keeping up to date on the local, regional, national and international sources of business support

 

Knowledge and experience:

  • Educated to degree level and/or equivalent professional qualification
  • Driving Licence and Car owner/access
  • Experience of working in or with high growth companies with a track record of developing good personal relationships with senior management in client organisations
  • Experience in one of the following three areas: access to funding and finance, International supply chain development, leadership implementation and/or manufacturing capability
  • Well networked with a good understanding of the local business support infrastructure
  • Strategic and management consultancy experience especially in the commercialisation of ideas
  • Good understanding of sales channels and how to establish them to support SMEs
  • Independent self-starter who is highly motivated, with a high level of interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Broad understanding of sources of finance i.e. equity, loans and public funding (including IUK and Horizon 2020)
  • Experience of assessing risk through analysis of business plans, financial accounts, and other supporting information
  • Experience and ability to interpret outputs of business diagnostic and benchmarking tools to develop/implement action plans
  • Ideal but not essential – experience in product design, ideation or design thinking

 

Skills:

  • Good financial, analytical, reasoning, and decision-making skills
  • From a risk perspective, ability to assess business plans, financial accounts and ancillary information, including personal assessment of potential borrowers
  • Able to express ideas clearly, both verbally, face-to-face, by telephone, and in written communications and actively listen to others logically and accurately.
  • Able to accomplish the goal by efficiently establishing an appropriate course of action for self and others.
  • Ability to gain and hold the respect of business owners and senior staff in the businesses we support
  • Good written and oral communication skills, able to clarify complex points and summaries situations and facts succinctly
  • Good presentation skills for hosting workshops, chairing meetings and speaking at events
  • Influencing skills and personal drive to achieve the best outcome for clients
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • IT literate and experience of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work on own and use own initiative/self-motivated as well as working as part of a team

The successful candidate will be based in Birchwood (Warrington) and will be required to regularly travel to client SMEs across the North West and on occasion, the UK and wider European destinations (post COVID)
