Aim of the Competition

The competition aims to fund business-led, collaborative research and development (CR&D) projects focused on net zero and sustainability. It targets industrial research and innovative proposals developed in collaboration between the UK and Singapore.

Your Project Proposal

Your project should demonstrate a disruptive innovative idea leading to new products, processes, or services. It should exhibit a strong, deliverable business plan that includes market potential, financial plans, timelines, and a clear plan to deliver significant economic impact. Your project must address sustainability and net zero challenges within areas like Agrifood, Clean Energy and Renewables, Green Buildings, Sustainable Manufacturing, Urban Mobility, Water & Management, Waste Management, or Carbon.

Eligibility Criteria

Projects with a grant request exceeding £750,000, those that do not meet the project theme requirements, and those without an eligible Singapore partner will not be considered for this competition. Furthermore, projects related to military applications, or those not adhering to Innovate UK's eligibility criteria are ineligible.

Funding and Support

Each project can request a maximum grant funding of £750,000. The Singapore partners must apply to and will be funded by Enterprise Singapore for the Singapore component of the project.

• Clean Energy and Renewables: Solutions for improved renewable energy yields and energy storage.

• Green Buildings: Solutions to drive renewable adoption in built environments and reduce embodied carbon in construction.
• Sustainable Manufacturing: Solutions for resource efficiency and implementation of technologies like digital twins, sensors and controls.
• Urban Mobility: Solutions for autonomous net zero maritime, electric vehicles or batteries, and carbon emission reduction in transportation.
• Water & Environment: Solutions for low-emission wastewater treatment.
• Waste Management: Solutions for waste management and a circular economy.

• Carbon: Solutions for improved tracking and management of carbon.
