Secure Software for Resilient Growth

Opens:
16.03.2026
Closes:
19.04.2026
Sectors:
Cybersecurity
Project Size:
Up to £5 million

Innovate UK is investing up to £5 million to support collaborative R&D projects that strengthen cyber resilience across UK software supply chains. As industries continue to digitise, many organisations are still not embedding robust cyber security practices, leaving them exposed to increasing threats and economic losses.

This competition focuses on accelerating the adoption of the Software Security Code of Practice (SSCoP), helping organisations build secure-by-design software while creating new commercial opportunities in cyber security.

Funding amount:

  • Up to £5 million total funding available
  • Individual projects can request between £250,000 and £750,000

What Your Project Needs to Achieve

Projects must go beyond theory and demonstrate clear, real-world impact. Your proposal should show how it will:

  • Increase awareness, adoption and implementation of the SSCoP
  • Strengthen the cyber resilience of UK software supply chains
  • Support at least two or more SSCoP themes
  • Contribute to the growth of cyber-resilient technologies and services

This means combining technical innovation with practical deployment across organisations and supply chains.

Key Areas of Innovation

Innovate UK is open to a wide range of approaches, but strong projects will typically combine multiple elements.

Technical Solutions and Tools

Projects may develop:

  • Automated tools for SSCoP compliance and assurance
  • Platforms to support secure software development practices
  • AI-driven tools for analysing vulnerabilities or AI-generated code

These solutions should make it easier for organisations to adopt secure practices at scale.

Training, Engagement and Awareness

Equally important is enabling people and organisations to adopt these practices. Projects could include:

  • Training programmes to upskill technical and non-technical teams
  • Communication tools to improve understanding of cyber risks
  • Guidance tailored to non-cyber experts and SMEs

Supply Chain and Procurement Integration

Projects may also focus on embedding security into business processes, such as:

  • Integrating SSCoP into procurement and supplier management
  • Supporting organisations to include security requirements in contracts
  • Developing tools to assess supplier cyber resilience
