Overview of the Programme and Its Objectives

The ARISE 2nd Open Call supports the development and deployment of innovative human–robot interaction (HRI) solutions that enhance industrial and healthcare applications. Funded under the Horizon Europe Programme, the call aims to extend existing HRI tools or develop new HRI modules that address concrete, real-world challenges defined by the ARISE consortium.

Projects are expected to demonstrate human-centric automation approaches, contribute reusable HRI modules, and advance technologies from early-stage validation to higher readiness levels.

What the Programme Supports

The call funds projects that fall within the scope of the ARISE project and directly address one of the following challenges:

  • Dismantling and assembly of high-value products
  • Complex product picking in industrial warehouses
  • Flexible collaborative robots
  • Smart programming
  • Enhanced robot functionality through multimodal HRI
  • Fetch and carry tasks in healthcare environments
  • HRI for improved worker efficiency in high-precision flexible tasks
  • HRI for improving ergonomics in high-precision tasks

All funded activities are expected to start at TRL 3–5 and finish at TRL 6–7.

Assessment Focus and Selection Criteria

Proposals are evaluated through a multi-stage process including eligibility checks, scope screening, expert evaluation, consensus meetings and jury pitching.

Applications are assessed against three main criteria:

  • Excellence: Objectives, ambition, technical approach and human-centricity
  • Impact: Industrial value, market potential, commercial strategy and scalability
  • Implementation: Work plan, team capability and resource allocation

Minimum scoring thresholds apply at both criterion and overall proposal level.

Other requirements

  • Each proposal must address only one ARISE challenge
  • Entities linked by capital cannot be in the same team
  • ARISE consortium partners, affiliates and employees cannot apply
