Overview of the programme and its objectives

The UMX Open Call is an initiative by EIT Urban Mobility designed to accelerate the development and delivery of high-quality, sustainable professional training and support services in the field of urban mobility. The programme aims to close critical knowledge gaps by strengthening the skills and capabilities of mobility professionals and organisations, particularly at the local and city level.

The call supports proposals that contribute to systemic transformation towards more liveable cities by delivering impactful learning experiences aligned with EIT Urban Mobility’s strategic education and training objectives. Emphasis is placed on innovation, entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, and the potential for replication and scaling across European contexts.

Eligible activities fall under the following seven categories:

  • CHA1: Face-to-face course(s) development and commercialisation
  • CHA2: Face-to-face course(s) complying with the EIT Label, design and delivery
  • CHA3: Face-to-face course(s) complying with the EIT Label, development and commercialisation
  • CHA4: Replicating, scaling-up, remodelling, or sale of successful commercial courses and training programmes
  • CHA5: Replicating, scaling-up, remodelling, or delivery of successful EIT Label courses
  • CHA6: Upgrading, scaling-up, or remodelling of non-UMX commercial courses, or repurposing them for UMX audiences
  • CHA7: Training operations support services and delivery for custom course pathways

 

Who can apply

The call is open to all legal entities established in:

  • European Union Member States
  • Third countries associated with Horizon Europe
  • Eligible applicants may include, among others: SMEs/ Universities / Research and technology organisations/ Cities and public authorities/ Large businesses

Applications may be submitted by single applicants or multi-participant consortia.

Funding and support available

  • Total indicative EIT funding allocated to the call: approximately €2–4 million
  • Maximum EIT funding per proposal: €700,000

Key dates and timeline

  • Call opening: 2 July 2025
  • Cut-off date: 29 September 2026, 17:00 CEST
