Funding Available: Up to £12 million for UK registered businesses

Objective: This initiative aims to scale up semiconductor manufacturing within the UK, improve supply-chain resilience, establish new manufacturing techniques, and foster industry-academia collaborations.

Eligibility:

  • Open to UK registered businesses.
  • Proposals must focus on significant improvements in the semiconductor manufacturing sector, supporting long-term UK industry needs.

Project Requirements:

  • Total project costs must not exceed £2.5 million.
  • Proposals should address areas such as innovations in manufacturing techniques, expanding existing capabilities, fostering product designer and manufacturer relationships, and encouraging new industry-academia collaborations.

Specific Themes: Projects can focus on areas including:

  • Compound and silicon semiconductors.
  • Development of Process Design Kits (PDKs).
  • Manufacturing process development, including wafer fabrication and sustainability.
  • Device and circuit simulation, design, and testing.
  • Advanced semiconductor packaging, integration techniques, and system development.

Exclusions:

  • Projects primarily focusing on standard PCB fabrication or assembly, and those dependent on export performance or domestic input usage.

Portfolio Approach: Aiming to fund a variety of projects across different technologies, markets, and technological maturities.

Research Categories: Industrial research projects will be funded.
