The EUROLAKES Call for Replication Projects supports the adoption of nature-based solutions to restore degraded lake ecosystems across Europe. As part of the wider EUROLakes project, this call aims to replicate successful methodologies tested at demonstration sites to improve ecological health, water quality and long-term lake resilience.
Type of Projects
Projects must focus on the restoration of natural lake ecosystems through nature-based solutions. These solutions should be adapted from lessons learned at EUROLakes demonstration sites and address similar challenges, including nutrient pollution, habitat degradation and ecological imbalance.
Eligible Applicants
Applications may be submitted by:
• Individual local or regional authorities
• Joint applications led by one coordinating authority
Applicants must be legally established in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country, with the following excluded:
• Authorities already part of the EUROLAKES consortium
• Applicants from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Romania, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom
Timeline
Projects must begin between 1 June 2026 and 30 September 2026 and must end on 31 May 2028. The last date to apply for the grant is 15/01/2026.
Funding
• Maximum funding per project: EUR 75,000
• Funding rate: 100 percent
• Payment structure: 80 percent pre-financing and 20 percent upon completion

Projects should focus on ecological issues aligned with those faced by EUROLAKES demonstration sites, such as:
• Excess nutrients and eutrophication
• Degradation of aquatic habitats
• Decline in water quality
• Loss of biodiversity
• Reduced ecosystem services
