What They Are Looking For

  1. Innovation: Projects should focus on the development of AI products or services that bolster the UK music industry.
  1. Collaboration: Partnering with industry stakeholders, either domestically or internationally (though non-UK entities will not be funded).
  1. Market Readiness: Must be market-ready within 12 months of receiving support.

  • AI Utilisation: Projects must utilise or enable the use of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Industry Range: Proposals can span live, recorded, and publishing segments of the music industry.

Your project can focus on one or more AI applications including:

  • Generative AI: As a creative tool for the value chain.
  • Metadata: Enhancements for discovery using deep learning.
  • Data Integrity: Ensuring robust, reliable, and accessible data.
  • Ethical AI: Transparent algorithms focused on bias reduction and ethical content generation.
  • Artist-Centricity: New forms of licensing and artist or fan creativity.
  • Fan Engagement: Incorporating AI with Web3, Gaming, and Metaverse for better engagement.

This is not an exhaustive list; other AI innovations are welcome.

Research Categories

  • Types of Research: Industrial research projects will be funded.

Exclusions

  • Non-collaborative projects, those that don’t utilise or enable AI, and those that don't economically benefit the UK music industry.
  • Projects dependent on export performance or domestic inputs usage are also excluded.
