Description:

Innovate UK (a part of UK Research and Innovation) aims to push forward the adoption and development of AI and Machine Learning in transport, construction, agriculture, and creative industries.

Proposal Criteria:

  1. Identify an end user in one of the priority sectors.
  1. Showcase how the solution enhances business productivity or efficiency in these sectors.
  1. Illustrate how key partners will aid in research commercialisation.

Strands:

  1. Collaborative R&D projects (this strand).
  1. Single entities.

Ensure to apply to the appropriate strand; incorrect submissions will not be assessed.

Funding:

  • Type: Grant.
  • Project Size: Funding requests should range between £700,000 and £1.2 million.

Portfolio Approach:

Desire to fund a diverse array of projects spanning different technologies, markets, maturities, locations, strands, themes, and research areas.

Specific Themes:

Projects may focus on:

  • Data-driven decision-making.
  • Automation of administrative tasks.
  • Project management optimization.
  • Supply chain forecasting.
  • Waste management.
  • IP management.
  • Design. Note: This list isn't exhaustive.

Research Categories:

Funding will be provided for industrial research and experimental development projects.

Exclusions:

Will not fund projects related to:

  • Advertising and marketing.
  • Direct primary production in fishery/aquaculture.
  • Direct primary production in agriculture (must be R&D).
  • Purchasing road freight transport.

Cannot fund projects that:

  • Depend on export performance.
  • Rely on domestic inputs usage.
