Objective: To support collaborative urban innovation projects that accelerate a just and inclusive transition to net zero in both the UK and targeted African countries.

What They Are Looking For

  1. Innovative Solutions: Projects should bring new or enhanced net-zero technologies or methods to the table.
  1. Just Transition: The social justice aspects of transitioning to net zero should be a significant consideration.
  1. Collaboration: Equitable partnerships should be formed between the UK and African businesses.
  1. Knowledge Exchange: Learning should be shared between different innovation ecosystems to improve approaches to net zero.

Funding and Project Size

  • Duration and Costs: Not specified, but the total eligible project costs must fall between £150,000 and £300,000.

Key Criteria

  • Scope: Must address urban challenges related to net zero, like power, heating, cooling, mobility, etc.
  • Market Need: Must fulfill a clear need in the UK and/or African target markets.

  • Projects not related to net zero transitions, those not addressing real urban challenges, or those focused on fossil fuel improvements will not be funded.
  • Projects dependent on export performance or domestic inputs usage are also not eligible.
