Aim of the Competition

This competition aims to support ambitious, early-stage growth businesses in developing net zero products or services that can meet rising demand. The competition is designed to connect your innovations with the market through design thinking methods, stimulating behavioural changes in businesses and consumers alike.

Your Project Proposal

Your project should focus on developing your product or service and demonstrating it in a relevant market. It should have a user-focused approach, which may include testing or demonstrations in a living laboratory. The Design Council will provide bespoke support, assisting in understanding and receiving user feedback and gauging interest from the supply chain.

Eligibility Criteria

Projects that are at the discovery and definition stage of a product or a service are not eligible for funding through this competition. Also, projects that don't focus on net zero themes, or can't explain how the user focus will support the product or service's development, testing, and demonstration, will not be considered.

Funding and Support

Each project can request total grant funding between £50,000 and £100,000. The grant will cover the cost of hiring living laboratories to test your products or services with end users, enabling them to better meet market requirements.
