The LCR Future Energy programme will work with SMEs in the Liverpool City Region (LCR) to build their capacity and enable them to fully participate in the low carbon economy. This will be achieved by helping SMEs to identify areas where they can improve and build, brokerage with large energy firms, product support and a consultancy framework.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.

The role responsibilities

Research and Development:

  • Research the market to directly respond to the needs of the SME’s that are eligible for the projects support
  • Identify suitable SME’s within LCR that would benefit from engagement with LCR Future energy services.
  • Support the team to identify contacts that provide business growth opportunities to companies in the renewable energy sector, from LCR. This will include a combination of desk based activity to compile/utilise databases, direct marketing and partnership working. There will also be company visits required.


  • Market the LCR Future Energy project to promote the activities, successes and events both attended and hosted via;
  • Social Media – LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other relevant links
  • Update our websites with ‘News’, Tender opportunities, Case Studies

Admin Support:

  • Support the team with the planning and delivery of Events and workshops; this may include attendance.
  • Team support to prepare, collect and collate documentation from SME’s to ensure we remain contractually compliant and adhere to the strict ERDF regulations.
  • Support the team to maintain ERDF administration systems.
